An intimate island wedding for two?

We’re looking to get married on Jan 7, 2012. I wanted to have a very small (bride & groom plus witnesses) ceremony on an island (maybe Hawaii, VI, PR) that we can also honeymoon. We want the budget to remain under $2000. Any suggestions on websites or any inexpensive destinations that are within my budget? I do prefer an all inclusive location so everything is paid for together… please help. And also, we’ll probably be leaving from Charlotte, NC…

Yikes–I don’t think $2000 is enough for a destination wedding AND a honeymoon! Add airfare to that and you are sunk!

Help me plan my Malaysia holiday?

Hello

I have always been helped by helpful advisors on this website. So here I go again before arranging my holiday plan in December.

I am going to kl from London on 21 dec 2011 and returning back on 1 jan 2012. Please help me suggest a itenary as which places to go in Malaysia. I atleast want to cover 3-4 destinations.

I have been to Malaysia before and I visit kl- Penang and langkawi. All three were amazing destinations and I travelled nearly 3 years ago for my honeymoon. Me and my husband both want to go penang (for food and watersports) and kl for sure but not sure about the additional destination, which one to pick. My husband would like to go to eastern Malaysia but he hasn’t looked into journey time and all plus we are travelling with my 18 months old daughter. I don’t want to waste lot of time travelling and doin long journeys as with a baby as it is very challenging.

I m really confused on what to do or what not to do.

Please help me and guide me in the right direction :)

I recommend you to go to Melaka(Malacca)!! Melaka is one of famous place in Malaysia and it’s not too far away from KL. It takes about 1-2 hours from KL to Melaka by bus.
I went there 2 month ago and had amazing time there. I prefer Melaka than KL. You can see history of Malaysia and it’s quite diffirent mood from KL. I have stayed in an accommondation by a riverside for 2nights. The view from the accommondation was awesome and also the accommodation was clean, comfotable and cheap!! They have night market on weekends. You can try many foods and get some Malaysian stuff there.

Destination wedding questions?

My fiance and I had planned to have a wedding near our home town, in Illinois in June 2012. Recently, we have to post-pone the wedding due to the fact I haven’t been working full-time. We have informed the bridal party as well as close family and friends, had planned on have roughly 150 guests, which we already received most of their contact information. However, after dealing with the stress of finding a decent location around our area(which seems almost impossible) and the employment issue got us to thinking….about a destination wedding to Jamaica ( of course, once I start working full-time again)., a small intimate wedding is more of what we would want, we are a very laid back couple. This leads me to a few questions, what do I tell all of the 150 guests that I informed of the wedding and asked for their contact info to send invitations too. Also, We had/have a decent size bridal party 10(total bridesmaids and groomsmen) the bridesmaids already ordered their dresses. I would like to keep them all but if we do the destination wedding I don’t know if we can afford to pay for all of their expenses (travel, lodging cost, etc.), I assume we are supposed to pay for them seeing as how we asked them to be a part of our wedding. I was thinking about having my best friend and just my sister in the bridal party but I’m not sure how the others would feel. Now, when it comes to guests, are we responsible for paying their costs? Who should I invite and who should I cut? Would really like to keep it small and intimate We would probably stay for our honeymoon as well.. how long would guests stay? I really know NOTHING about a destination wedding and this is all new to us. ANY advice is greatly appreciated!
Sorry if this is a scattered, that’s how my brain is right now…

Destination weddings are generally considered to be in very poor taste. They end up placing an unfair hardship on those in the wedding party or anyone wishing to attend. Think of the financial burden of the costs of travel and lodging, along with the time and scheduling constraints. Some may not be able to attend due to costs, time, or health concerns. You will also leave those who want to see your wedding feeling hurt that they could not attend. Even if you paid for everyones travel and lodging, the hassle of travel and scheduling still places a burden on people. It would also be rude to un-ask part of your wedding party because you want to cut back on wedding expenses for yourself. Your family may say that they are fine with it -but believe me, they will think you are being rude. It’s kind of like taking the entire wedding party on your honeymoon! About the only people who really seem to like the idea are those in the travel industry. Sometimes unwary couples get suckered into a destination wedding by the hype at those wedding fairs. Don’t fall for it. There must be a local venue that will be far better for you and your guests. Everyone that I have known that has had a destination wedding has regretted it.
Have a destination honeymoon, NOT a destination wedding.
